Waterfowl Migration

Birds continue to be on hold in the Mississippi flyway due to the lack of cold weather and north winds. We saw a decent number of birds on opening weekend, but they’ll quickly get educated and the pressure will force some to disperse. The most numerous birds in the area are green wing teal with a few other ducks around. On opening weekend we bagged teal, mallard, red head, wood ducks, and a lone black duck. Until the north starts freezing up and getting snow, we’ll continue to see low amounts of birds, but the fun is just a cold front away!
